My name is Shauna Rae, and my journey with pituitary dwarfism began due to a challenging medical battle I endured as a child. I was born with a malignant glioma in my brain, which ultimately led to a growth deficiency as a side effect. Despite being prescribed medications and undergoing various treatments to help my height, my growth did not progress as expected. It wasn't until I reached the age of sixteen that I received the official diagnosis of pituitary dwarfism.
This pivotal moment marked a turning point in my life, as it forced me to confront and reflect upon my disability. Prior to this diagnosis, not many people acknowledged my condition, as it was believed to be temporary. However, as I grew older and more aware of my physical differences, I made the decision to bring awareness to dwarfism, disabilities, and the importance of embracing our unique qualities.
For me, fashion has been a powerful avenue to express and define myself. It serves as a tangible first impression that we present to others. However, as someone who has struggled to find clothing that truly represents and fits my own identity, I have always desired to change that. I have dedicated myself to making life easier for those who are different and to fostering a society that embraces and celebrates our diversity.
By advocating for inclusive fashion, I hope to empower individuals with disabilities to confidently express themselves through their clothing choices. I firmly believe that by promoting acceptance and understanding, we can reshape societal norms and create a more inclusive world for everyone.
Through my personal experiences and ongoing journey, I strive to challenge stereotypes, break down barriers, and inspire others to embrace their differences. Every step I take towards raising awareness and promoting acceptance brings us closer to building a society that values and celebrates diversity in all its forms.
